TOWN COUNCIL – Special Meeting
Council Chambers – South Windsor Town Hall
1. Call Meeting to Order
Mayor Pelkey called the Special Meeting to order at 7:41 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Members Present: Mayor John Pelkey
Deputy Mayor Edward Havens
Councillor Gary Bazzano
Councillor Favreau
Councillor Tom Delnicki
Councillor Kevin McCann (arrived at 8:15 p.m.)
Councillor Cary Prague (arrived at 8:20 p.m.)
Members Absent: Councillor Kathryn Hale
Councillor Keith Yagaloff
Also Present: Matthew B. Galligan, Town Manager
3. Public Input
None
4. Communications
Mayor Pelkey informed the public and the Town Council that James Snow who had been the Director of Recreation prior to his retirement has passed away. Mr. Snow’s wake will be on Wednesday and his funeral will be on Thursday.
5. Town Manager’s Report
None
6. Executive Session
At 8:04 p.m. Councillor Delnicki made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel issue (Town Attorney). Councillor Favreau seconded the motion; and it was approved, unanimously.
The following individuals went into Executive Session: Mayor Pelkey, Deputy Mayor Havens, Councillor Bazzano, Councillor Delnicki, Councillor Favreau, Councillor Prague, Councillor McCann, Town Manager Matthew Galligan and the Attorney’s that will be interviewed for the Town Attorney position.
At 10:21 p.m. the Executive Session was adjourned.
7. Special Business
A. Resolution Appointing a Town Attorney
BE IT RESOLVED that the South Windsor Town Council appoints the law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP to the position of Town Attorney for the Town of South Windsor; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this appointment will be in accordance to Chapter 5, Section 501 of the Town Charter, and in accordance with the terms agreed to by the Town Council.
Was made by Deputy Mayor Havens
Seconded by Councillor McCann
The motion was approved, unanimously
8. Adjournment
At 10:22 p.m. Councillor Delnicki made a motion to adjourn the Special Meeting. Councillor Bazzano seconded the motion; and it was approved, unanimously.
